Final Wenita forests walkway easements registered

The final walkway easements were recently registered on Wenita Forest Products Limited’s Berwick and Otago Coast Block forests.

These included new walkway easements over a large area in the northern part of Berwick Forest covering the length of the forestry road known as Prentice road, the forestry road known as Glenburnie road (connecting the end of Prentice road to Browns cottage), a loop track around the Meggat Burn wetlands near Browns cottage, a connection from Prentice road to a covenant area off Prentice road, and a north/south trail between Terrace Range road and Shaw Road (connecting to the DOC land to the north via an existing PAE north of Shaw Road). These were all for public foot and cycle access.

The other new walkway easements are along Ridley Road in Otago Coast Block Forest. These provide practical vehicle access to bridge gaps along Ridley Road where the legal and physical roads do not align.

Walkway easements have been registered over nine other routes across five forests in the Dunedin region over the last two years, all created as a result of implementing Wenita’s long-standing overseas investment case. We are very excited about the outcomes that are now in place.
