Circular Track (Loop)
Johnston Hill is one of the biggest, most visible peaks in the Outer Green Belt. The star of the forest is tawa and kohekohe trees. Higher up, above the canopy, are old podocarps. The canopy contains rewarewa, hinau and other species.
From the carpark at the top of Hatton Street in Karori, follow the path through the regenerating native forest. When you reach the peak of Johnston Hill you will have spectacular views of the city and the south coast. On your way down, turn to the right to complete the loop. The track passes through native forest back to the carpark.
