New river access signposted near Motueka

Whitebaiters, anglers and other people in the upper South Island can now enjoy a stretch of the Riwaka River near Tasman Bay after an agreement was reached to open up the area to access on foot.
Signage and a stile were installed yesterday to mark the new access, which extends 300 metres along the true left of the river, between a cycle bridge on the Great Taste Trail and the Riwaka Rivermouth in Tasman Bay.
