Vacancy: IT Systems Admin/Analyst

The NZ Walking Access Commission Ara Hīkoi Aotearoa is looking for a full time IT systems administrator/analyst to join our Wellington office.  

The Commission is a Crown Agent with a Wellington head office team of 14 staff, and a network of 12 regional field advisors based throughout the country. The Commission provides leadership on outdoor access issues. Our role is to provide the New Zealander public with free, certain, enduring, and practical access to the outdoors.  

If you are a friendly, confident, customer driven IT professional with 3 to 4 years experience within the IT support industry, this could be an ideal environment for you. The role includes opportunities for development in a supportive environment. 

Your role 

You will lead the IT support for the Commission, and your role will include: 

  • the management and administration of the Commission’s IT infrastructure  
  • managing the Commission’s IT-related policies and strategies, including data security and protection 
  • working with external IT service providers 
  • managing and providing IT technical support and training to Commission staff and regional field advisors.  
  • working closely with the GIS team to enhance the Commission’s mapping system.  
  • contributing to strategic and operational business planning  

We are looking for someone with 

  • 3-4 years’ experience in an IT role, ideally IT system administration and/or IT technical support  
  • in-depth knowledge of IT systems and processes 
  • experience with Microsoft 365, especially SharePoint 
  • strong customer service and interpersonal skills.  
  • pro-active, open and personable communication style. 
  • good problem-solving and analytical skills. 

It is also desirable that you have

  • experience working in the public sector 
  • an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and principles 
  • an understanding of New Zealand Government data standards, Creative Commons licensing and open data 
  • knowledge of GIS systems and software,  

This role requires you to be

  • a NZ citizen or permanent resident. 
  • based in the Wellington office, as your primary location of work. 
  • have a valid My Vaccine Pass 

Estimated salary range of $90,000 – $110,000, dependant on your experience. Our office is located in Wellington Central. You will be reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive.
