Healthy demand for outdoor access funding

More than 30 organisations have submitted applications for a slice of $138,000 in funding available through this year's round of the Enhanced Access Fund.

The contestable fund is available to groups undertaking projects that will enhance opportunities for public access to New Zealand's outdoors.

Commission Chief Executive Mark Neeson said the level of interest showed there was significant demand for access-related funding.

“We have received funding applications from groups across the country, from Kaikohe in Northland to the Catlins at the foot of the South Island. We're happy with the number of applications and I'm sure that those projects that are successful will be hugely beneficial to access in their regions.â€
