Funding for projects that improve outdoor access

Projects that improve people's ability to get into the outdoors may qualify for funding from the New Zealand Walking Access Commission's Enhanced Access Fund.

This contestable fund supports projects designed to enhance access to New Zealand's outdoors. Applications are being invited for the second of four funding rounds over the current financial year, with a total of $76,000 available for 2014-2015.

Groups seeking funding have until 31 August to apply.

New Zealand Walking Access Commission Chief Executive Mark Neeson says there were 11 applications to the first funding round which closed at the end of May.

“We expect to announce which projects were successful around the end of August. Our highest priority over the 2014-2015 year will be initiatives that obtain new access and projects such as the installation of signs that inform the public about access opportunities.â€
