Find My Adventure lets you choose how and where to explore the outdoors

We started with this simple problem – If someone wants to explore the outdoors, the information they need is scattered all over the internet. Local Councils have some information, Te Araroa has some, the Department of Conservation has lots, the NZ Cycle Trail has more – and so on. But no one was compiling it all in one spot.

That’s when we came up with the idea for Find My Adventure: a website that compiles information on tracks and trails in one place. We wanted something that was easy to search. We wanted something that was easy to add to, and something that was comprehensive.

Find a track or trail >

Find My Adventure includes:

  • All the walks that comprise Te Araroa, from Cape Reinga to Bluff
  • All of DOC’s great walks, day walks and short walks,
  • The rides that comprise Nga Haerenga, The New Zealand Cycle Trail
  • All our Walking Access Commission tracks and trails
  • And soon, it'll have tracks from a wide range of local councils too.

You can search for any kind of trail by region. You can search by the type of activity you want to do – be it dog walking, mountain biking or pushing a pram. You can search for hard walks, short trails, or loop tracks.

For each track we have included information about what it is like, how to get there and any conditions you might need to beware of, such as if it is closed for lambing.

We are making all this information freely available. And we have even created an embeddable version of the tool that local councils and others can embed on their own website, showing just the walks that matter to them.

It’s not all the way there yet. But it’s well on the way. We’ll keep adding more walks as we work out the details with the people who manage them. And we will keep adding more features that allow you to get better use from the site. But we think Find My Adventure can become the one-stop-shop that you need to find your next outdoor adventure.

Meanwhile, we have also updated the rest of our website too. It still has our popular and highly regarded maps to help you find tracks, trails, public access areas, hunting and fishing spots and property information. It has a knowledge base of Information about accessing the outdoors responsibly - including roads and walkways, rivers and lakes, and private land. And it has resources to help teachers and students explore the outdoors responsibly.
